Rihanna, Kourtney Kardashian & Miley: Celebrities Sizzle In Summer Dresses
Submitted by Kiki on June 27, 2011 – 1:14 am

Ah, summer dresses. This season’s bursting with trends including tribal, floral, stripes and color-blocked treasures. While there’s a wide array of styles available (skin tight A-lines, sexy cut-outs, one-shoulder looks) there are a few common complimentary items to consider when rocking this season’s dresses.
Accessories can make or break an outfit. Stacked bracelets/bangles are a hot commodity this summer, while thin bright colored waist belts work well with neutral colored dresses. On those chilly nights, throw on a cute blazer or denim jacket over your dress. Nude is almost the new black and a pair of shoes (especially wedges) in this shade are a must-have, as they look amazing paired with brights or neutrals.
Fashion is in a relaxed and experimental phase, so have fun with it—play with contrasting prints, textures and colors, pair a feminine floral dress with an edgy biker jacket, or a casual t-shirt dress with a killer pair of platforms.

VIDEO: Rare Jay-Z “Reasonable Doubt” Tour Footage
Before the multi-million dollar clothing label, before venture capitalist economics, before he co-owned an NBA franchise, and long before he was one half of the most well-known power couple on the planet, Jay-Z was Shawn Carter. Fifteen years ago Shawn Carter was an aspiring rapper on the come up who adopted the stage name Jay-Z. Jay’s first album was not only one of the most prolific in his iconic career, but it was lauded as one of the best debuts ever. Now 15 years after Reasonable Doubt, Jay’s seminal effort is considered one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time. Rare footage has emerged from the Reasonable Doubt Tour which depicts a Jay-Z almost unrecognizable to younger fans. The guy that sells out Madison Square Garden in a matter of moments was once an aspiring emcee, and now there’s video evidence to prove it. Check out the footage below, and get ready for a trip down memory lane with some of Jay’s greatest hits.

The SoJones List: Amazing Hip Hop Dads
Article written by: Asmara Wreksono

Still feeling the spirit of Father’s Day, we would like to pay homage to the men in hip hop who are also great dads. These are the men we look up to, so we present to you - SoJones.com’s Favorite Amazing Hip Hop Dads. In random, unnumbered order, here they are:
Joseph “Rev Run” Simmons He’s your ultimate dad. As seen in the family’s reality show Run’s House, Rev Run is an authoritative figure who has a ‘papa bear’ quality at the same time. From his marriage with Valerie Vaughn in 1983, Rev Run had three children: Vanessa, Angela and Joseph Jr. After the divorce, Rev Run married Justine Jones in 1994 and had three more children: Daniel “Diggy” III, Russell “Russy” II and Victoria Anne -who tragically died after birth. Soon after Victoria Anne’s death, the Simmons family adopted a baby girl: Miley Justine. As many expected him to do, Joseph Jr. has tried to match his dad’s rapping skills with his group Team Blackout. However, it surprised everyone when Diggy also stepped up to the plate and actually got signed by a major label. Can he live up to his dad’s rep? We’ll see.

T.I. How many times can we gush about T.I.? We don’t really know. The rapper has made some mistakes in the past, including getting incarcerated for an illegal weapon possession case and again on 2010 when he broke parole. But Tip manned up to the charges and set a good example for his kids. T.I. fathered Messiah YaMajesty Harris and Domani Uriah Harris with LaShon Dixon. There’s also Dehjah Imani Harris in the Tip’s kids list. With Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, T.I. has three sons: Clifford King Harris III, Llayah Amour Harris (stillborn), and Major Philant Harris. T.I. is also the stepfather of Zonnique, Tameka’s daughter from a previous relationship. We say Tip’s a great daddy and a great leader of the pack. (Read T.I.’s latest letter.)

P. Diddy Although being a bachelor for life seems to be Diddy’s way of life, it doesn’t get in his way in being a dad. Fatherhood for Diddy began when he started dating Kimberly Porter, who has a son with producer Al B Sure. Diddy’s first biological child is Justin Dior, from a relationship with Misa Hylton-Brim who was his high school sweetheart. The rapper’s second biological child is Christian Casey from his relationship with Kim Porter, who also gave Diddy his twin daughters: D’Lila Star and Jessie James. When Diddy’s relationship with Kim Porter went sour in 2007, Combs took legal responsibility for Chance, his daughter with Sarah Chapman. Why are we dubbing Diddy one of our favorite dads? Hello? He gave Justin a $360,000 Maybach car AND a chauffeur as a 16th birthday present. Sweet!

Lil Wayne Ah, the man who seems to be planting seeds everywhere. But that’s okay, because we know he’s a loving dad. His first child is Reginae, from his marriage with Antonia “Toya” Carter. His second child is Dwayne III. Wayne got his third child, Lennox Samuel Ari, from his relationship with actress Lauren London. In 2009, Wayne had his fourth child, Neal, with singer Nivea. Looks like Weezy also made his peace with his own dad. He told Katie Couric that his dad “has never been in his life”. Well, from the looks of it, there’s no way he’s doing that to his kids, as he’s very involved in Reginae’s life. So, Lil Wayne made our list!

Snoop Dogg Here’s a rapper who looks like he couldn’t be a family man. Well guess what? Turns out he is a great father figure. However, from what we heard, Snoop doesn’t want any of his kids (sons Corde, Cordell, and daughter Cori) becoming a rapper. He has his reasons.

Will Smith A father of three, Will Smith might not be into hip hop nowadays, as he’s busy doing business with Jay-Z along with his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith. However, Will Jr. has just graduated high school, Jaden is building his acting career and collaborating with the likes of Justin Bieber. The last one of the pack, Willow Smith, is on the roll with her singing career. With all these high achievers in the house, is it true that Will Smith is an excellent dad? Yes, he is.

Snoop Dogg Brewing New TV Show, Wants Jay-Z Involved
Article written by: Asmara Wreksono

Once again, the creative bug has bitten rapper Snoop Dogg, and this time, he wants to launch yet another TV series. Snoop wants to launch a search for the new hip-hop star (think American Idol), and he wants Jay-Z in on the project. (Read about Snoop Dogg’s setback with his latest movie project.)
The New York Post’s source said:
“He wants to bring in an old-school legend, and he wants to get Jay-Z.”
Aside from Jay-Z, Snoop is reportedly trying to get rapper Wiz Khalifa as one of the judges in the upcoming show. No word yet from either Jay-Z or Wiz Khalifa’s reps.
The show is reportedly been pitched to several TV networks including Oxygen, Bravo, NBC, E! and MTV. However, none are confirmed to have committed to the project.
About his idea, Snoop Dogg stated:
“I’m looking for a deal from one of you TV networks to give Snoop Dogg his own hood TV show where I can find America’s hottest hood artists. Holla at me.”
And apparently, the rapper has a rather strong opinion about the talent shows that existed long before.
“The ‘American Idol’ and ‘X Factor’ shows, they’re great shows. But I think I need to make a show like that, that’s directed straight to the hood. To the artists that don’t get the attention, that don’t have the money to make themselves representable. This raw talent and ability.”
Would you watch Snoop’s hood star search if it’s aired on TV?

Jonas Bevacqua Dead: LRG Clothing Founder Dies At 34
Orange County sheriff's officials said Bevacqua's body was found in his Laguna Beach home.
"There were no obvious signs of the cause of death," sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino told The Associated Press. He added that the county coroner would conduct an autopsy Wednesday.
A statement on Irvine-based LRG's website describes Bevacqua as a friend, partner, father and mentor.
"We ask that everyone keep his family in their hearts and prayers and respect their privacy in this time of incredible grief," the statement reads in part.
According to the company's Facebook page, Bevacqua and his business partner, Robert Wright, founded Lifted Research Group, known to patrons as LRG, with start-up capital raised in part from friends of Bevacqua's adoptive father.
Bevacqua had dropped out of college and moved back home with his parents when he met Wright while working as a DJ at Southern California clubs. The two sketched out some of their earliest fashion ideas in his bedroom.
Deeply influenced by Southern California's skateboard, surfing and hip hop culture, he said he and Wright began making clothes that reflected their interests but that no one else seemed to be providing.
"I grew up in a pretty unique environment and was exposed to a lot of different things," he said in a 2009 interview with the Orange County Register. "I didn't feel there was a clothing company to bridge the gap between all these different things that we were into - that spoke for that melting pot of what was going on. That's what LRG was all about."
By 2006, LRG had annual sales of $150 million and was named by Entrepreneur magazine as No. 5 on its list of that year's 500 fastest growing companies. Among its popular clothing lines are Luxirie, which targets 18- to 30-year-old women, offering clothing with Western and military themes, and items such as crystal-covered jeans.
Initially a clothing company, LRG has since branched out to include sales of electronic devices, music and other items. It described itself as a "creative lifestyle" company that attempts to reflect its founders' interests, not only in fashion but also environmental causes and other activities.
"The company is also involved in the promotion of underground recording artists and sponsors a skateboarding team," according to its website.
In the 2009 Register interview, Bevacqua described a passionate but casual work ethic that he said drives LRG, whose headquarters includes a basketball court and skateboard half-bowl and ramp.
"No one is really a suit-and-tie-guy," he said of LRG's employees. "If anybody wears a suit, it's because he wants to, not because he has to."
Bevacqua is survived by his mother, father, son, fiancee and seven siblings, according to the company's website.
