Five Rappers Who Need To Be In Horror Films

Halloween’s taking place this weekend and in celebration of the upcoming holiday, I’ve come up with a list of rappers who need their own horror film. Whether it’s their looks and appearances that makes them frightful or their freaky personalities, these five artists would certainly make big money if they hit the box office.
Rick Ross
With Rick Ross being the big, really big, guy he is, he can play a variety of roles in a horror film. From a blob-like creature that eats everything in it’s path to a Big Foot/ Sasquatch Chewbacca type of monster, Ross will own the role, and own it well.

Nicki Minaj
Wicked witch? Yep. Crazy-psycho mental patient? Exactly. A sexy but deadly Freddy Krugger? Of course. A mother f*ckin’ monster? Without question. Nicki Minaj is known for multiple personality spazzing on records, and she makes the crazy work. She’s proven she’s a monster on records, so it’s only fitting she move on to film.

Lil Wayne
Lil Wayne—need I say more? Maybe it’s the sharp-looking platinum grill that scares me. Perhaps its the Frankenstein vein and the face tattoos that bug me out. Whether it’s a demon, the devil himself, a ghoul or a goblin, Wayne’s one scary looking dude. By the way, he’ll be out of jail next week.

Lil Kim
There was once a time when Lil Kim was a sex icon in music—all the girls wanted to be like her, and all the guys wanted to do her. These days, she’s a perfect example of what happens when you’re plastic surgery happy. I can definitely see Kimmy having the lead role in Attack of the Cat Lady. Perhaps she could play the role of Mystique if they come out with an X-Men movie, because Kim’s appearance changes every time she steps out on the scene. Either way, if I hear she got a part in a Wes Craven movie, I won’t be surprised one bit.

Flavor Flav
Hands down, Flavor Flav has to be the scariest looking dude in hip-hop. You’re probably wondering what role he can get in a horror film. Take your pick: Gollum from Lord of the Rings, a zombie in Resident Evil, or even one of those little voodoo dolls from Tales From The Hood. If all the rappers above were in a competition to be cast for a scary movie, Flav would blow everyone out the water. Ironically enough, he has his own Halloween costume.

The Dos And Don’ts Of Men’s Skinny Jeans
Submitted by Kiki on October 18, 2010 – 9:06 am

Men in skinny jeans/pants aren’t going anywhere. If you are, or plan on being, one of these brave skinny-jean-wearing fellas, at least let us help you get the look right. As in, not looking like you’re wearing women’s jeans and keeping your private parts concealed.
Check out a few dos and don’ts in this department:
DON’T: Pair bold-colored skinny jeans with equally bold contrasting shades and prints.

DO: Mix colored bottoms with neutral pieces.

Kanye West
DON’T: Wear the growing Harem trend so tight you can’t even walk.

DO: Sport this trend with a more relaxed and comfortable fit.

Last but not least…
DON’T: Be blind to the fact that you are suffocating (and exposing) your genitals in too-tight, ill-fitting skinnies.

DO: Pay attention to the way skinny jeans fit you. Opt for some breathing space.

How Hip Hop Royalty Does Weddings
Article written by: Asmara Wreksono Posted on: October 14, 2010
After a mortgage, weddings tend to be one of life’s biggest one-time expenses. Some people see it as an occasion to publicly splurge on themselves while impressing their friends and family. In the world of self-promoting, stack throwing, throw-it-in-the-bag world of hip hop, there are many who go way over the gold-plated top. It’s ironic that most of these events are intended to be “private” but somehow the gory details always get out.

1. Jay-Z and Beyoncé Hip hop mogul Jay-Z aka Shawn Carter married pop sensation Beyoncé Knowles in 2006. The two stars went to extreme lengths to keep the event a secret and no pictures were leaked. Which of course created an even bigger buzz before, during and after. The famously private couple held their wedding ceremony and a lavish party with a white dress code at Jay’s Tribeca apartment and was attended only by close friends and family. Bey and Jay hired Amy’s Orchids to provide 50,000 to 60,000 white orchid blooms from Thailand. Bey is rumored to possess a $5 million wedding ring, but is rarely seen with it on.

2. Nas and Kellis Rapper Nas and (now his ex) singer Kellis got hitched at Morningside Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia on January 8, 2005. Nas presented a wedding band to complete the cushion cut diamond engagement ring with two pink heart-shaped diamonds around the large center stone, while Kellis gave Nas a unique platinum wedding ring featuring a movable band of yellow diamonds. Kellis wore a Matthew Williamson dress and she broke with traditional white for a green number, while Nas donned a three-piece Yves Saint Laurent suit with white tails and matching top hat. Guests were treated with chocolate and champagne truffles by Dylan’s Candy Bar. Too bad the marriage didn’t have a sweet ending; they divorced four years later.

3. Eminem and Kimberly Mathers If you can marry once, why not marry twice? Eminem might have badmouthed his ex Kim in the past after the end of their 1999 marriage (they divorced in 2001), but the heart knew what it wanted. The couple re-tied the knot in Rochester Hills’ Meadow Brook Hall in 2006, with high style.
The party was said to be very elegant and traditional, a total opposite of what people might have expected from the couple. The bride wore a long white gown and the hand bouquet had orchids and pink and white roses. Eminem matched the look with a white suit and chose to stand out from his groomsmen who donned black tuxedos. There were about a hundred guests including 50 Cent, Obie Trice and members of D12 and G-Unit, who along with the workers involved in the wedding, were required to sign a confidentiality agreement as the couple opted to keep the affair intimate.

4. Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey Rapper/actor/comedian Nick Cannon married famous singer Mariah Carey in 2008, in a “top secret” wedding ceremony. So secret, details, details and more details were combed over by People magazine et al. The couple were married at Mariah’s Bahama home and were attended by about 24 wedding guests, all flown in with the bride and groom with a private jet. We have to remind you that Mariah Carey is known for her diva ways and as such, she had delivered huge tanks of live Maine lobsters via a commercial jet to have at the reception, and flew her wedding cake herself on her private jet. A sweet-flowery-smelling private jet, that is, because Mariah always needs her employee to fill the jet with fresh flowers before every flight.

5. Timbaland and Monique Idlett Rapper Timbaland married his longtime girlfriend Monique Idlett in 2008. In what appears to now be a hip hop royalty tradition, they had two ceremonies. The first ceremony was held in Virginia, where the couple kept it low key -so low they got to wear sweats! The second occurred in Oranjestad, Aruba, with several hundred guests in attendance including Missy Elliott, Omarion, Ginuwine, rapper Magoo and Kerri Hilson, who sang at the wedding. The private island-party ended in a fireworks. (Photo credit: Mike Colon Photographers – In Style Magazine)

6. Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz A very pregnant Alicia Keys married her beau producer/rapper Swizz Beatz after a pre-wedding trip to the mediteranean. The couple got married in Italy, with Deepak Chopra officiating the marriage. Swizzy and the R&B queen kept things “private” which is how we found out Alicia donned a Vera Wang dress with Louboutin sandals, while Swizz Beatz looked dashing in a Tom Ford tuxedo. After the wedding, Alicia and Swizz boarded a yacht and continued their celebration with friends like Queen Latifah et al.

7. Snoop Dogg and Shante Taylor Snoop Dogg married his highschool sweetheart, Shante Taylor on June 12th, 1997. In 2004 he filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences”. Fast forward to 2008 when the couple renewed their wedding vows, at a friend’s ranch just outside Los Angeles. Snoop presented Shante with a diamond ring to seal the deal and strengthen his commitment to their marriage, witnessed by their three children, Corde, Cordell and Cori.

8. T.I. and Tiny Rapper T.I. and longtime fiancée Tameka “Tiny” Cottle set the bar for their hip hop peers by effectively turning their wedding into a nationwide tour. The couple first went for a pre-wedding trip to Hawaii with their family and friends. The exchange of vows occurred in Miami along with an extravagant reception. The couple continued their “I Do” tour to hometown Atlanta, then flew to Las Vegas to party some more, where Tip even performed some unreleased songs in the party. In addition to sparing no expense on the revelry, gowns and entertainment, one can assume the couple also sported the cost to fly guests from location to location to location. Word.

BET Hip Hop Awards 2010: Breaking The Chains
Article written by: Asmara Wreksono Posted on: October 12, 2010
The taping of BET Hip Hop Awards 2010 took place last Saturday, October 2nd, 2010. We weren’t really sure why this year it seems like the gents stole all the attention on the red carpet… as well as onstage, but after seeing these pics, we think we understand.
Look closer to the following pictures and tell us if you see the same thing. Hip hop is heavily identified by the signature chains around the stars’ necks. The bigger, the shinier, the better. This year, in an event celebrating the music genre, we see less and less chains and jewelry. Could this interestingly decreasing notorious looks have made the men of hip hop shine after buried under lots of chains over the years?
Check out some faboosh hip hop stars who attended the big event. Do you agree with us on the reduced-size of iced-out gear? We categorize the non chain-blingers, the subtle chain wearers and the old-skool look worshippers. First up:
Non Chain-Blingers

Yelawolf and Raquan The Chef went for the simple look this year, as they feel no need in wearing any chains at all. But check the loud colors they donned. Looks like these guys know how to ‘balance things out’. Good for them!
The Subtle Chain Wearers

Miami boss, Rick Ross, and Diddy looked laid back and relaxed in the audience seat before their performance with MC Hammer. Both men sported moderate-sized chains and guess what, it worked on them.

Trey Songz, Roscoe Dash, Diggy Simmons, Lil Duvall, Fabolous, Terence J and BoB all ditched the ice and went for the more modern men-necklaces that enhanced their -shall we say, manliness? Hot!
Speaking of manly, a dude should never wear a double chain if he doesn’t want people to mistake his accessories as double pearl necklace from afar. And adding a cardigan to complete the look makes it look not G, not Gents, but Granny. Take notes, Terry Kennedy.

Old-skool Look Worshippers

Mr. Boomtown, Wacka Flocka, Soulja Boy and Gucci Mane stay true to the whole iced-out pendants look like it’s 1995. But that’s hip hop, everything is always relevant and as long as one has the right attitude, one can pull almost anything off!

For The Ladies: Get The Deréon Ink
Article written by: Asmara Wreksono Posted on: October 8, 2010
Beyoncé shows no signs of stopping even after the lawsuit case a few weeks back. The lawsuit might just resemble a harmless pinch and she proved it didn’t hurt her or her brand. Bey and her mother, Tina Knowles, as owners of Beyond Productions LLC -the mothership of the Deréon label, have just signed a deal with airbrush makeup firm, Temptu to create a limited edition collection of temporary tattoos.
The tattoos will be under the Deréon label, and they are gorgeous. You’ve actually seen them on Beyoncé in the Deréon Fall 2010 Campaign. Here are some pics to refresh your memory.

Deréon Creative Director and Designer, Tina Knowles stated:
“With a Sixties-pinup-girl meets-futuristic-biker-chick theme, Beyoncé and I really wanted to give our Deréon fall 2010 campaign a tough edginess. We decided to invite Temptu to help us create custom body art for her to model with our fashions. The resulting images were so strong that we realized consumers might want to re-create the tattoos themselves.”
The Deréon tattoos will drop in November 1st and come in deluxe and basic packages. Each will feature the Deréon signature fleur icon, rocker bolts and chains, jewel baubles and spider designs. Sweat much? No worries because the tats are waterproof and will last from two to five days.
The basic kits (each retailed at $16) of the tattoo package contain eight temporary tattoo transfer sheets with two each of the four designs, 10 tattoo application pads and one of three kit designs each featuring a different image of Beyoncé on the Fall/Winter Deréon ad campaign. However, get a chance to win a trip to New York for a photo shoot by purchasing the deluxe kit ($34), which contains everything in the basic package PLUS a signed photo of Beyoncé. The deluxe kits are limited to 500 pieces.

P. Diddy’s Sean John Clothing Line To Invade Europe
Article written by: Asmara Wreksono Posted on: October 6, 2010

P. Diddy introduced his Sean John clothing line to the Europe market, and apparently the line got a warm welcome from potential buyers. The move has been planned since three years ago, but had to be delayed due to the economic crisis. Diddy stated:
“We had planned on [bringing the collection to Europe] three years ago but then the recession came and we really wanted to focus on making sure we stayed consistent in the U.S. But right now with what’s going on economically in Europe there’s opportunities, because people still need exciting things going on in their stores to keep people coming in…we feel now the time is right to really start the conversation.”
Diddy and his team showed the upcoming Sean John Spring 2011 collection which consists of men’s sweaters with intarsia military motifs, slim fit men’s jeans in faded khaki washes and silk bomber jackets. The suits produced under license with Peerless included a navy blazer with silver buttons, breaking the stigma that Sean John is full of ‘baggy’ cuts in its designs. Diddy was delighted:
“Almost anyone who has come here today was like, ‘I thought the product would have logos on it, I thought it would be baggy,’ when actually it’s timeless fashion, it has a little aspiration and it’s very clean…it’s great product.”
In addition, Diddy also showed off Sean John’s women’s line, consisting of fine pieces that include tailored leather jackets and puff-shouldered bomber jackets which are the result of co-production with Icer Brands.
