Amar’e Stoudemire Has Worked His Final Day At Foot Locker

Submitted by Scav
We can already hear the New York Knicks fans screaming now: “Go back! We don’t want you! Don’t quit your day job!” But, we’re sad to say that the news is true: Amar’e Stoudemire is no longer working at Foot Locker.

For those of you out there who are confused, Stoudemire did a series of Foot Locker commercials during the NBA lockout that featured him picking up some side work to supplement his NBA salary that wasn’t being paid at the time. That’s right, the Knicks center was working a regular 9-to-5 selling sneakers at Foot Locker and trying to make ends meet. Er, or at least, that was the idea.

Can I just say, though, that these videos might have been better served as commercials? Or, at the very least, shorter videos? As you can clearly see in this clip, Stoudemire isn’t an actor and, frankly, he never really hit his stride as far as acting his way through these clips. And the actors that they put him with didn’t exactly steal the show, either, which resulted in a series of clips that weren’t all that entertaining. On paper, this probably sounded like a great idea for Foot Locker and Nike. But, in execution? Well, let’s just say that it left a lot to be desired.

For now, though, we can all celebrate the end of Stoudemire’s tenure at Foot Locker by watching this video that features him working his final day. All of us except for the Knicks fans out there, that is. They’re probably not too happy to see that their struggling center is coming back to work. Or, maybe they’re glad that he’s dropping his side hustle and getting back to focusing on basketball. Whatever the case, Stoudemire has officially clocked out from his Foot Locker gig. And not a moment too soon. Peep the video below:

Take That! Diddy Is Launching His Own Music TV Channel

Submitted by Danica Daniel on January 26, 2012

Move over, Oprah! You’re not the only African-American mogul willing and able to launch your own network.

Sean “Diddy” Combs is readying the launch of a music-themed cable network called Revolt. Aimed at African-Americans, the black MTV-esque station is slated  to debut 12/12/12. According to Andy Schuon, former MTV programming chief, Revolt will harken back to the golden days of MTV focusing on music, music news, and, most importantly, music videos, which have taken a back seat to reality TV programming on many other “music” channels. Comcast is said to be in talks to carry Revolt as part of its ongoing efforts to reach a more urban demographic.

Diddy is no stranger to television. The music producer, who has dominated the worlds of fashion (Sean John), fragrance (“I Am King,” “Empress”) and liquor (Ciroc), has had several successful shows on MTV and VH1, including Making The Band and The Apprentice-inspired I Want To Work For Diddy.

Do you want your D(iddy)TV?

Lil Wayne To Debut New Skater Clothing Collection

Submitted by Danica Daniel

Despite needing nine stitches after a serious skateboarding accident in August, Lil Wayne is still 100 percent submerged in the skater lifestyle. The 29-year-old rapper is set to release Trukfit, a new skater inspired clothing line, at the end of January.

“Lil Wayne has long been recognized as a music and pop culture icon,” says Trukfit public relations representative Sarah Cunningham. “He has developed a unique style — both sonically and visually — and extending his brand and vision into apparel was a natural progression. As Lil Wayne is passionate about skateboarding, it only made sense for him to infuse that passion into Trukfit.”

Described as “well-made, stylish and edgy,” Weezy F. Baby will debut his skate apparel on January 23 and 24 in New York City at the Agenda Trade Show. Check out Lil Wayne showing off his skills at a skatepark in Tampa, Florida below. Do you think Weezy will make skateboard gear as dynamic as his raps?

Rihanna, Ne-Yo, Rick Ross & More Party With Diddy For New Year’s Eve

Submitted by Boss Lady on January 2, 2012

Diddy hosted his “CIROC The New Year” party to usher in 2012 at a private Miami estate over the weekend, with guests including Rihanna, Gayle King, NeNe Leakes, Ne-Yo, Rick Ross, DJ Khaled and more.

A demure looking Ri Ri (in a knee-length, frilly black dress and pumps) posed for the cameras, while Diddy’s mother Janice Combs and ex Kim Porter held court with Star Jones and others in attendance.
